1. Who we are
Fold ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Callum Spillett as a sole trader ("the Seller"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share your personal information when you use foldtask.app and related services (the "Service").
2. Data we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, password hash, and optional phone number.
- Workspace content: folders, tasks, notes, chat messages, files and other content you or your team create in Fold.
- Usage data: log data, IP address, device/browser information, feature usage.
- Billing data: handled by Paddle (see section 4). We receive limited data such as country, plan tier and subscription status; we do not see or store your full card number.
3. How we use your data
- To provide, secure and improve the Service.
- To authenticate you and enforce workspace permissions.
- To send transactional emails (sign-in, password reset, billing, product notifications).
- To comply with our legal obligations and prevent abuse.
4. Payments — Paddle as Merchant of Record
All paid subscriptions are sold and processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd as our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payment processing, invoicing, sales tax/VAT collection and refund workflows. When you purchase a paid plan, Paddle collects and processes your billing information under its own privacy policy at paddle.com/legal/privacy. We only receive the minimum data required to grant you access to the plan you purchased.
5. Sub-processors
We use trusted providers to run Fold, including hosting infrastructure, database and authentication providers, transactional email providers, and Paddle for payments. Each of these processes data only on our instructions and under contractual data-protection terms.
6. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting or fraud-prevention reasons.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures including TLS in transit, encryption at rest, role-based access controls and audit logging. No system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password and enable any additional security features we offer.
9. Children
Fold is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in-product or by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
